Freight, customs and delivery into Australia
Getting goods from an overseas factory to your warehouse involves booking freight, preparing documentation, clearing customs and coordinating the final delivery leg. We manage each part as one job rather than handing you between a forwarder, a broker and a transport company.
Choosing sea, air or consolidated freight
Sea freight suits most container-scale orders and is the lowest cost per unit, typically taking several weeks depending on origin and destination ports. Air freight costs more but suits smaller, urgent or high-value shipments. LCL consolidation suits orders too small to fill a full container.
Customs clearance and duty
- Tariff classification confirmed before freight is booked
- Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin prepared
- Duty and GST calculated and paid at clearance
- Any applicable permits or biosecurity requirements checked in advance
Incoterms and who is responsible for what
The incoterm agreed with the supplier determines who pays for freight, insurance and duty and at what point risk transfers to you. Getting this wrong is a common source of disputed costs. See our guide to incoterms for Australian importers.
Delivery to your door
Once cleared, we arrange domestic delivery to your warehouse or third-party logistics provider, with tracking shared throughout so you know where a consignment is at any point.
What this costs
Freight and customs costs vary with weight, volume, freight mode and category-specific duty rates. We classify and cost this before booking so the landed cost you approve is the one you pay.
